Heath Ledger's Family Releases Statement

Heath's family issued this statement:

We remain humble as parents and a family, among millions of people worldwide who may have suffered the tragic loss of a child. Few can understand the hollow, wrenching, and enduring agony parents silently suffer when a child predeceases them. Today's results put an end to speculation, but our son's beautiful spirit and enduring memory will forever remain in our hearts.

While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy. Heath's accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage.

Our family enjoyed an extremely happy two week visit with Heath just prior to the New Year. Those recent precious days will stay with us forever. We as a family feel privileged to have some of his amazing magic moments captured in film. To most of the world Heath was an actor of immeasurable talent and promise. To those who knew him personally, Heath was a consummate artist whose passions also included photography, music, chess and directing. We knew Heath as a loving father, as our devoted son, and as a loyal and generous brother and friend.

We treasure our beautiful granddaughter Matilda (to our dear Michelle) as well as an unbelievably wonderful network of close friends, forever, around the world. Families rarely experience the uplifting, warm and massive outpouring of grief and support as have we, from every corner of the planet. This has deeply and profoundly touched our hearts and lives. We are eternally grateful.

At this moment we respectfully request the worldwide media allow us time to grieve privately, without the intrusions associated with press and photography.

Heath Ledger Autopsy Results~ Accidental Over Dose

HEATH LEDGER'S AUTOPSY RESULTS: Accidental Over Dose from 6 medications.

It is being reported from the New York Chief Medical Examiner's Office the cause of Heath Ledger's death.

Heath died from accidental over dose of prescription drugs that included painkillers, sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication.

"Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine," medical examiner's spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said in a news release.

The drugs are the generic names for the OxyContin painkiller, the anti-anxiety drug Valium, Xanax, an anti-anxiety drug, and the sleep aids Restoril and Unisom. Hydrocodone is habit forming. It is possible become physically and/or psychologically dependent on the medication.

Motel Williams Lashes Out About Heath Ledger's Coverage

Montel Williams was asked to be on a morning news program to talk about Heath Ledger and the paparazzi coverage and he caught them all off guard. He lashed out about the coverage and said we should be reporting on war causalities instead.

Heath's family wrote tributes to their Son and Brother which were published in the Friday edition of the West Australian newspaper.

His father, Kim, wrote:
"'Heatho,' 'Beef,' . . . my beautiful boy, so loving, so talented, so independent, so caring, so young . . . no more chess games mate . . . this is it, couldn't beat you anyway!

My body aches for the sound of your voice, our chats, our laughs and our life and times together."

Your truly varied artistic skills, insatiable desire to improve and eclectic abilities set you apart from any other person on the planet . . . it had only just started for you … and for us to further enjoy. We were one, in soul and commitment. Just . . . Father and Son. I will love you forever, Dad."

His mother, Sally, wrote:
"Our darling boy, special in so many ways to all of us. You knew you were so loved. You lived life with courage and daring and we are so grateful for the wonderful times we shared. We will be there for Matilda. Your loving Mamma, Rog and Ash."

His older sister, Katie, wrote:
"I can hardly breathe when I try to write this. We were the ultimate in soul mates. I feel both my heart and life have been torn apart. I loved our special talks, our daily chats from where ever you were in the world.

I especially loved all the precious time we spent together. We were so fortunate to have you as long as we did. You were so many things to so many people, but to me you were just my little brother.

There will never, ever be another "Heath" and I think that in itself is the greatest tragedy.

I will continue to talk with you everyday and love you just as if you were here. You will never leave my thoughts "Roast", ever."

His younger sister, Olivia, wrote:
"You're my idol, my hero, but most importantly, my loving big brother. I'll treasure every moment we spent together. I love you Heath, I miss you and pray every night you're safe."

His entire family wrote:
"How do we describe our sudden and tragic loss? … You were the most amazing individual "old soul" in a young man's body.

You so loved us, as we dearly loved you. As a close knit and very private family unit we have observed you so determined yet quietly travelling in your self-styled path in life, nothing would get in your way … no mountain too tall, no river too wide.

You dreamed your dreams and lived them with passion and intelligent commitment. We have been privileged to accompany you on a ride through life that has simply been amazing and through it all, we have loved each other beyond imagination.

Your true legacy lives on in beautiful little Matilda, who will always remain in the greatest of care. Our hearts are broken . . . Dad and Ines, Mum and Roger, Kate and Nathan, Rori and Scarlett, Ashleigh, Olivia, Elana and Nadia."

Several Prescriptions Found In Heath Ledgers Apartment

The police report is indicating that several prescriptions were found in bottles in his room.

There also have been several reports that have stated that Heath was battling with sobriety recently but no illegal subtances were found.

Just last year around this time we were learning of Anna Nicole Smith's death from accidental overdose. This is getting all too familiar amongst Celebs.

Heath Ledger's Family Issues A Statement

"We, Heath's family, confirm, the very tragic, untimely and accidental passing of our dearly loved son, brother and doting father of Matilda. He was found peacefully asleep in his New York apartment by his housekeeper at 3:30 p.m. U.S. time.

We would like to thank our friends and everyone around the world for their well wishes and kind thoughts at this time. Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life but few had the pleasure of truly knowing him.

He was a down to earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving and selfless individual who was extremely inspirational to many. Please now respect our families need to grieve and come to terms with our loss privately."

Heath Ledger Found Dead In His Apartment

Heath Ledger, the Broke Back Mountain star was found dead in his Manhattan Apartment this afternoon. Police said that drugs might have played a role in his death as they were found at the scene.

They said that he was face down on the floor at the foot of his bed and was in cardiac arrest. But other reports are stating he was found in bed sleeping peacefully.

There were 2 different bottles of sleeping aids found, it's being reported, one prescription bottle and one over-the-counter, which would make an accidental overdose more likely. Believe it or not but experts claim it is harder to over dose on prescrpition sleeping pills.

At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at 421 Broome Street Apartment 5A. His house keeper found him when she let in a masseuse for a previously scheduled appointment and his naked, lifeless body was discovered. They tried to wake him up and he did not respond and they called the authorities. He was in cardiac arrest when the paramedics arrived. CPR was performed. He was pronounced dead 9 minutes after they arrived. The last time Heath was seen alive was noon on Monday.Heath was born April 4, 1979. He was 28 yrs old.

Heath does not own this apartment. He was renting but the owner is not One of the Olsen Twins as was being reported. She does not own an apartment in the building.

Recently I heard that they were going to make Broke Back Mountain 2 and Heath would star in the movie. Presently he has a movie coming out this Summer. He played the Joker in the new Batman movie, " The Dark Knight".

Heath met Michelle Williams on the set of Brokeback Mountain in 2005 and the two had a daughter, Matilda. The relationship did not last and the two of them broke up in 2007. Jake Gyllenhaal is the godfather of his daughter.
